1. When should I use Intelli-Flex?
Intelli-Flex is a fence-disturbance sensor that is very often used
in industrial facilities because of its cost and simple
installation. It is designed to detect an intruder either climbing
or cutting the fence.
2. Can I use Intelli-Flex to protect a palisade fence?
Yes. For palisade fences, the threat is normally climbing and not
cutting so the fence should be at least 2m (6.6 ft.) high to deter
jumping over. The cable is installed on the fence in a square wave
pattern with a vertical separation of cable of about 75 cm (30
in.).
3. What effect does vinyl coated fencing have?
Vinyl coated or plastic coated fencing does not transmit sound to
the cable as efficiently as bare metal fabric. For vinyl coated
fences we recommend doubling up the amount of sensor cable used on
the fence. We recommend two passes of cable be installed in a zone
for vinyl coated fabric compared to the single pass when the
fabric is bare metal.
4. Should I use the audio module?
The audio feature can be used to help in the assessment of alarms
if there is no CCTV video assessment. Many clients find the audio
feature useful in helping to diagnose and rectify nuisance alarm
causes.
5. What is the maximum zone length for Intelli-Flex?
Although each zone of Intelli-Flex can monitor up to 300m of
sensor cable, it is often impractical to configure a standard 2.5m
(8 ft.) high fence with a 300m long zone. Usually 100-150m
(328-492 ft.) zones are used. However, on metal fences in excess
of 2.5m (8 ft.)height, a double pass of cable can be used and
still provide 100-150m (328-492 ft.) detection zone.
6 . Can I upgrade my E-Flex system to Intelli-Flex?
Yes. The sensor cable used for E-Flex and Intelli-Flex is exactly
compatible and the Intelli-Flex processors are backward compatible
with the E-Flex processors. The older E-Flex processors can be
exchanged on a one-for-one basis with a suitable Intelli-Flex

7. Can gate areas be protected with Intelli-Flex?
There are a number of ways to protect swinging and sliding gates
and to bypass them when they are in use.
